Interested in the Construction Trades Become an Apprentice! An apprenticeship is an on the job training program in which you work and go to school to learn a trade. The average beginning wage is $14.95 an hour and a journey level construction worker can earn approximately $30.00 per hour with benefits. SUPPORTING LIVABLE WAGE JOBS AND CAREER PROGRESSION The Apprenticeship Opportunities Project (AOP) assists women, people of color and those facing barriers to employment in establishing careers in the building and construction trades.
